John Wilson of Andrew Moore & Associates Ltd, provided a short presentation introducing the different types of hatch covers, and the problems that can be encountered in testing hatch covers for weather tightness.
Paul Fahy of Cygnus Instruments in the UK, then provided a presentation to explain the technology behind ultrasonic hatch testing equipment, followed by a demonstration of the equipment using a model steel hatch, offering the opportunity for those present to also use the equipment.
The event offered participants the opportunity to see at first hand how ultrasonic equipment can be used to effectively assess the weather tight integrity of a hatch cover.
