On the evening of Thursday 17 October 2002, a group of over 40 Members and guests attended at The Foreign Correspondents Club, (FCC), a presentation on the salvage of the Russian submarine "Kursk"-

The speaker:  Hans van Rooij, MD of Smit Salvage

Smit Salvage are one of the leading salvage companies in the world, and have been involved in many high profile operations, that have often required the use of totally new and innovative salvage methods. Such was the case with the recovery of the Russian submarine the "Kursk".

We cannot do justice to such a complex operation in just a few words, so we have included a link at the bottom of the page to the official Smit/Mammoet web site, where a full description may be obtained.
