CAPTAIN  Bob MATHEWS, MNI and wife, Judy, MADE A SEMI-CIRCUMNAVIGATION OF

ANTARCTICA IN THE RUSSIAN ICE BREAKER "KAPITAN KHLEBNIKOV"  2004 / 2005.

 

FIRST LANDFALL IN ANTARCTICA WAS THE SOUTH SHETLAND ISLANDS ( 58 degs. West.)

 ON THE TIP OF THE ANTARCTIC PENINSULA.   THE VOYAGE PROCEEDED ALONG THE

COASTS OF THE BELLINGSHAUSEN and AMUNDSEN SEAS TO THE ROSS ICE SHELF and

McMURDO SOUND. FINALLY LEAVING ANTARCTICA AT CAPE ADARE  (169 degs. East ).

 

AN ILLUSTRATED ACCOUNT OF THE VOYAGE WAS GIVEN BY CAPT. MATHEWS AT THE ROYAL

HONG KONG YACHT CLUB ON 23rd. February 2005
