The Hong Kong Branch of the Nautical Institute is pleased to invite you to their next presentation and cocktail event:


Will this rust kill me - by HANNAFORD FORENSIC
The presentation is a brief background on corrosion, corrosion on ships, with various examples of the types of rust NFS come across during investigations. The presentation will focus on the rust types that are acidic and could compromise the integrity of various components and structures.
The talk will also include Tianjin explosion inspections that HFS carried out, which will include assessing the extent of the contamination on the containers.
It will include the investigative approach to chemical contamination on containers. Particularly ones containing cyanide.
It will conclude with  a look back at some of the interesting chemical contamination cases.

SPEAKERS:   Dr. John Allum and Dr. Sophie Parsons.

Dr. Allum’s expertise is fire and explosion investigations but has built up a good reputation in cargo contamination cases. John is also involved in liquefaction cases, nature product spoilage and gas cargo contamination.

Dr. Parson’s expertise is material failure analysis and corrosion causative incidents. Sophie has also been involved in a large number of liquefaction cases, in particular with the laboratory analysis of samples.
